The use of render coating as a protective, sometimes colourful, protective layer to outer walls has become ever more popular. It’s hard-wearing and doesn’t chip or flake like paint. However, it isn’t always compatible with damp, wet weather and can quickly become discoloured, sometimes dramatically.
The discolouration/staining often starts as a small patch but can rapidly cover the entire wall. There are several reasons why this happens.
We can clean the wall, remove the discolouration and then treat the walls with a biocide, which will greatly slow down the regrowth of the algae spores—keeping the walls cleaner for longer.
Once cleaned and protected, we advise an annual treatment of the biocide wash, especially to the walls that face the weather's direction or are permanently in the shade.
